The Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. (WCVFD) will be conducting a Water Supply Drill on Sunday, April 6, 2025. The training exercises will start around 12:00 PM and end by 4:30 PM and will be held at the entrance to Colonial Pipeline (929 Hoods Mill Rd.). We will be hosting fire departments from all over the region.
This type of training is essential to our personnel because it allows us to practice our drafting and other water supply skills under realistic and controlled conditions. As one of your neighbors for the day, we will make every effort to minimize the impact of the training on your community.
On the day of the event, you can expect to find fire apparatus and fire fighters congregating in the Hoods Mill Road area, specifically at the entrance to Colonial Pipeline. We will also have engines set up on Eden Mill Rd. by the stream and Hoods Mill Rd. at the Patapsco River. Eden Mill Rd. will have one lane closed at the stream for approximately 3-4 hours. The eastbound lane of Hoods Mill Road will be blocked from approximately 12:30 PM until 4:00 PM in front of 929 Hoods Mill Road, we will have traffic control in place. We are expecting approximately 100 people in and around the area. Upon completion of the training exercises, roads will be opened back up and any fire department equipment will be removed from the site.
As a partner in your community, we invite you and your family to come watch the training exercises. You will have an opportunity to see first-hand what it takes to supply water for a large fire event. Any public observers should stay in the assigned area at 929 Hoods Mill Rd.
In closing, we look forward to working with you in making our training day a success! Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Chief Austin Johnstone of WCVFD, (667) 910-8988 or by email, Chief@winfieldvfd.org. |
