The Winfield, Sykesville, Gamber and Mt. Airy Fire Departments, MD States Attorney's Office, Carroll County District Court of MD, Carroll County Public Schools, MIEMSS, Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, Carroll Hospital Center, Galaxy Towing and the Carroll County Sheriffs Office took a proactive step in educating local high school students about making mature decisions when alcoholic beverages are involved. On April 5th the two-day program kicked off involving South Carroll High School Juniors and Seniors which encouraged them to think about personal safety where alcohol is involved. The program challenged those involved to make mature decisions and recognize that their actions affect others besides themselves. An MVC was staged and parents and students watched the incident unfold. A Sheriff arrested the student playing the drunk driver as the engine crews extricated the patients from the vehicles. The Winfield VFD provided lunch for this event and the Gamber VFD provided dinner.
