Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Board of Director Zach Schneider
March 23, 2017

On Thursday morning at 10:39a.m. Winfield and surrounding fire departments were alerted for a reported house fire in the 1000 Block of Huntfield Road. While responding Duty 14 (Davis) could see a large column of heavy black smoke from miles away and requested a Tanker Task Force.

Duty 14 arrived to find a two-story single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from the second floor and attic. Chief 14-2 (Davis) established command and requested a 2nd Alarm. Engine 141 arrived quickly followed by mutual companies which worked together to darken the fire from the exterior before moving inside to extinguish the fire and searched the residence rescuing a dog and cat.

The primary water source was established at the stream crossing located on Bloom Road which has a bridge mounted dry fire hydrant that Winfield VFD inspects annually. A tanker shuttle was used to haul water to the scene.

No one was injured from the blaze and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
