Fire Prevention Week October 9-15, 2016

Although we designate October as fire safety month, I encourage everyone to practice fire prevention and life safety measures throughout the year in your homes and community. Education and awareness is key to preventing loss, injury and even death in our homes and neighborhoods.
The theme this year is “Don’t Wait, Check the Date”. This refers to the smoke alarms installed in your homes. The old alarms that required a 9 volt battery to be changed twice a year, have now been replaced with new and improved alarms that do not require changing batteries and last for 10 years. We ask that you test the alarms once a month to ensure that they are working properly.
Please see the attachment below for instructions on maintaining your smoke alarms.

HALLOWEEN SAFETY

Halloween is also quickly approaching. While we enjoy decorations, costumes and trick-or-treating, we must keep safety in mind during our parties and activities. Consider using flameless candles this year and be mindful to ensure that your holiday decorations are not causing any type of fire hazard.
Please take a look at the Halloween Safety tips for trick-or-treating provided below and share them with your children.

Thank you and have a safe and happy Halloween!
Patsy Will
