"Answering the Call" Shock Trauma Gala 2016
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By President Robert Farver
April 25, 2016

Saturday April 16th, at the Baltimore Convention Center, was a night bestowed to honor all of those involved with emergency care at the highest level. Many State and local officials were on hand to see and recognize the hard work that was put into rescuing two patients who were extremely critical. Documented from the onset with the initial 911 call, thru the many operations and onto their road to recovery, no one expected their survival to last much past the first 24 hours after arriving at Shock Trauma. More than 1800 people attended the Gala and the program got underway with Dr Scalea delivering a strong message on the importance of everyone's role in the patients survival and how the Shock Trauma team works every day at raising the bar to try and save every patients life that they come in contact with.

After the dinner, Winfield's honorees and our colleagues from Sykesville VFD, who assisted on the call were taken back stage and after another keynote speaker and a video showcasing some of the honorees they were ushered on stage and introduced to the guests of the evening. In all of the hard work that we do, it was a real heartfelt moment to receive a standing ovation from everyone, recognizing that very fact.

The honoree's for the evening were:

Fire Chief Zach Schneider, 1st Assistant Chief Tim Legore, EMS Lieutenants Chris Broussard and Lenny Logue-Ruckman, Paramedics Suzanne Robinette, Gary Hubble and Charles Sperling, Firefighters John Laster, Keith Phillips, Robert Farver and Carl Broussard.

This was a very proud moment in the history of the Winfield Fire Department and was an honor to have several of our members recognized.
