On Friday, October 12, 2012, the Winfield VFD paid a visit to Linton Springs Elementary School. We performed their annual fire drill and everyone evacuated the building in a timely fashion. We nabbed three students and the teachers immediately identified the students were missing.
We then visited with Pre-K, Kindergarten and First grade. Miss Fire Prevention Jennifer Franklin and Junior Miss Fire Prevention Jessica Espey asked the kids fire safety questions. The students then watched Firefighter Haspert get dressed in full turn out gear so they know not to be afraid if a firefighter comes to assist them during an emergency - "Friendly Firefighter". They also had the opportunity to tour Engine 142 and to try on some turn out gear.
Students will watch a fire safety video this week as part of their fire safety curriculum and will go home today with a plastic fire hat as a memento of our visit.
We then returned to the station for a delicious lunch prepared by Linda Laster, Ann Kolpack and Pat Crosby.
Thanks to all that assisted with the detail. |
